EMS Operations
Emergency Medical Services Units are available at all City fire stations. Fire Department personnel are crossed trained as firefighters and Advanced Life Support medical technicians. Firefighter/Medics provide 24-hour Advanced Life Support (ALS) care and transportation for the sick and injured. The Fire Department takes advantage of all State training programs for EMS and uses the Peninsula’s Emergency Services Council, which is a non-profit corporation that assists local governments in developing their emergency medical services with funding, advanced life support training and support programs such as the Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Table 8-5 summarizes EMS response calls and transports since 2001.
