Occupational Safety And Health Office
The Occupational Safety and Health Office is responsible for the safety and health of all fire department personnel. The Occupational Safety and Health Officer (OSHO) works closely with the Fire Department’s Command Section and all firefighters. The mission of the Office is to ensure that all personnel within the Fire Department maintain a desired level of safety and health, allowing them to perform their duties in a proficient manner without causing injury to themselves or others.
To achieve the goal of a safer and healthier department, the OSHO obtained a Federal grant from the United States Homeland Security Department to implement a Wellness and Fitness program to ensure the entire department achieves and maintains healthier lifestyles. Improving the Fire Department personnel’s health and wellness through nutrition, education and exercise are the main goals.
