NNFD Strategic Plan 2005-2010
The Newport News Fire Department’s Strategic Plan 2005-2010 was completed and endorsed in July 2004. The Department focused on five strategic focus areas that were further divided into subcategories of activities and roles that shared a common theme with that focus area. Main goals and primary objectives were developed and “Champions” were identified for each goal to identify tasks and action items that directly support achievement of the broader goals and objectives.
The five strategic focus areas are: Our People, Our Community, Our Equipment, Our Facilities and Our Operations. Each focus area has goals and objectives that the Department is committed to accomplishing. Strategic Planning Teams have been formed to address all of the goals and objectives identified during the Strategic Planning Process. The accountability for achieving each main goal within the focus areas rests with a “Champion” and a Strategic Planning Team.
The Strategic Plan is the Department’s framework for action and accomplishment to provide better services for Department personnel and the citizens of Newport News. The Newport News Fire Department will continue to further the goals and objectives set forth in its Strategic Plan.
