Landscaped Boulevards
Planning District I has a large amount of aging development and surface parking lots located throughout the Downtown area. The negative appearance of aging development and surface parking lots could be lessened with landscaping. Within the Shipyard, the Maritime Center Plan recommends landscaped boulevards to soften the appearance of surface parking lots.
Landscaping should occur along all major streets. Landscaping and improved sign control along the major boulevards will enhance the District's appearance. The landscaped boulevards are Jefferson Avenue, Warwick Boulevard, Huntington Avenue, 25th Street, Chestnut Avenue, Marshal Avenue, Chesapeake Avenue, I-664, 39th Street and Briarfield Road.
