Workforce Housing
Attracting a mix of income residents and creating new homes have been identified as areas that need improving in Planning District I, especially the Southeast Community. An approach to achieve workforce and mixed income housing is outlined in the Southeast Community Urban Waterfront Design Study. The study recommends that all new residential developments provide housing opportunities that are accessible to a range of incomes. This concept is important because as Planning District I redevelops it will foster areas to redevelop in a fashion that truly creates diverse communities. Neighborhoods need to be strengthening through increased code enforcement, crime reduction, and beautification measures to create attractive places to live.
